Northrop Grumman Appoints GPS And Military Space VPs

Northrop Grumman has appointed two vice presidents to lead business areas within the company's Navigation Systems Division. Gorik Hossepian has been appointed vice president for navigation and positioning systems, with responsibility for space systems and high-value platforms, military navigation-grade and tactical-grade inertial systems, commercial aviation systems and fiber-optic gyro products and conventional gyro products.

Ike Song has been named vice president for situational awareness systems, with responsibility for integrated avionics systems, cockpit displays and underwater fiber-optic sensors.

"Gorik's role will be to expand the use of the division's advanced navigation technologies and products to satisfy the mission needs of military, aerospace and commercial customers, both domestic and international," said Jim Myers, vice president and general manager of Northrop Grumman's Navigation Systems Division. "Ike will manage the execution of our existing situational awareness programs and develop new opportunities by applying the extensive knowledge and experience he gained in leading the development of many of the division's key technologies and managing the division's strategic programs organization."

Hossepian has more than 20 years of experience in space and government systems engineering in both military and commercial environments. He joined the division as director of navigation and positioning systems and most recently served as vice president of situational awareness systems. Previously, he was program management director for Honeywell Aerospace and earlier was director of commercial satellite programs for Boeing Satellite Systems.

Hossepian earned bachelor's and master's degrees in mechanical engineering from the University of Southern California. He has authored a number of technical publications and has served as a member of several industry advisory boards.

Song was previously director of strategic programs and business development with responsibility for linking next-generation products and product extension programs in the fields of navigation, integrated situational awareness systems and applied sensors to business capture activities. Prior to joining Northrop Grumman, he was general manager and a member of the board of directors of NP Photonics, and earlier served as general manager of Solus Micro Technologies.

He earned bachelor's and master's degrees in engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Mass. and his master of business administration from the University of California at Los Angeles. He has received three patents and numerous trade secret and merit awards.

With a snip of the scissors, the Chief of Naval Personnel streamlined the process of selecting the Navy's future chiefs, officers, and even astronauts, during a ribbon cutting ceremony, Oct. 10. Vice Adm. John C. Harvey Jr. and Rear Adm. Edward "Sonny" Masso, commander, Navy Personnel Command/Deputy Chief of Naval Personnel, visited the selection board center at Navy Personnel Command (NPC) to launch the newest version of the Electronic Military Personnel Records System, known as EMPRS-TR. The TR represents the technical refreshment the system has undergone.
